Assist Wisconsin

Assist Wisconsin is a non-profit group whose stated goal is "to replace obstacles with opportunities"!  From their Executive Director Will Meissner, "Assist WI is committed to replacing obstacles with opportunities for individuals with disabilities and their families, from the waterpark to our State Parks our area has it all and we excitedly share it with every family that has the desire.  We got our start two years ago because there existed two fundamental problems;  the tower of stairs leading to a waterslide or roller coaster and the awesome trail that is miles from cell service.  These two activities were SPECIFICALLY off limits and many of our incredible tours and attractions may be unfriendly to disabled individuals and their families.  We offer adaptive services and equipment to families living in our area, visiting us on vacation (referred as a member of the Wisconsin Dells Visitor and Convention Bureau) and also facilitate 100% participation field trips for Special Education students."

Assist WI is committed to assisting families, groups and teams with members that have physical disabilities to make their adventure a rewarding and fun-filled one.  You can visit the Assist Wi website at http://assistwi.org, contact Assist WI via email at experience@assistwi.org or visit their Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/AssistWI/info/.

The Wisconsin State Capitol Building is located about 25 minutes from the Madison Marriott West Hotel.  The State Capitol Building is well known for it's beauty, location and interesting history.  The legend is that the height of the Capitol Building had to be reduced by several feet when built to avoid being higher in elevation than the US Capitol Building.  Located on an isthmus between Lake Mendota and Lake Monona, the Capitol Building and surrounding square provide a wonderful get-away for lunch, touring and education on the great state of Wisconsin!  For more information on touring the Wisconsin State Capitol, click here.

The Wollersheim Winery outside of Prairie du Sac is located just 25 minutes  from the Madison Marriott West Hotel.  The Wollersheim Winery is an award winning winery known for it's beautiful location on the bluffs overlooking the Wisconsin River beauty and it's interesting history.  The winery was originally constructed by Count Agoston Haraszthy, a Hungarian monarch who settled in the area.  Frustrated with the difficulty in growing grapes in the region, he relocated to Napa Valley California and started planting grapes......the rest is history!  The grounds have areas for picnic lunches, and provide tours and education on the wine industry in Wisconsin!  For more information on touring the Wisconsin State Capitol, click here.
